use
Soft Soak®,
Baqua Spa®
or other biguanide products in a Spa...
If your are following normal maintenance
procedures & are using Soft Soak®, Baqua Spa®
or another biguanide according to the prescribed instructions, you
should have a great experience with the product & the spa.
However, there are a few things that we have found in selling & using
Soft Soak® that we want to pass on to you.
1. Always start with a freshly
filled spa. Don't try to "convert" your spa from chlorine or
bromine to Soft Soak, it's much simpler to start with fresh water.
2. When converting or changing
the water, always use Spa System Flush or Swirl Away to clean out the
accumulated build up in the plumbing lines. Do this at least 2
times per year.
3. Follow the label
instructions.
4. Do not skip using the Soft
Soak® Spa Conditioner. You will end up with
a gooey waterline.
5. Maintain the Sanitizer level
at no more than 30 ppm. We have found that trying to keep the
Sanitizer at 50 ppm will result in "gummy" feeling water, a gooey
waterline & sometimes a pungent odor.
6. Maintain good water balance
- pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness.
7. Keep the Calcium Hardness at
about 200 ppm to lessen the foam.
8. If anything, your pH will
tend toward the high side (7.9 - 8.2), check it regularly (weekly) & maintain
between 7.4 -7.6.
9. Make sure that the filter
cartridge is regularly cleaned with Soft Soak®
Filter Cleaner. Using other cleaners that are not specifically
formulated to break up the stuff that Soft Soak®
picks up in the course of doing its job, will not thoroughly clean the
filter.
10. Regularly (whenever you use
the spa) wipe off the waterline with a SpaGuard®
Spa Mitt or soft cloth.
11. You will most likely find
that you seldom (maybe once per month) have to add Soft Soak®
Sanitizer.
That is normal. Soft Soak®
Shock is the product used most often.
12. Always use the Soft Soak®
Stain & Scale. Due to the higher pH often found in Spas using Soft
Soak®, Baqua Spa® or other
biguanides, there is a greater tendency for scale to form on the heating
element causing a higher operating cost over time.
